چکیده

H YPERLIPEMIA develops in cholesterol-fed rabbits accompanied after several weeks by lipid infiltration of the intima of the aorta.’ In contrast, the even higher plasma lipid levels obtained by repeated injections of the nonionic surfactant Triton WR-1339 are not associated with similar vascular lesions.’ This finding has aroused much interest, and several authors have studied the kinetic aspects and mechanism of this type of hyperlipemia. After injection with Triton, plasma tnglycenides immediately begin to rise, and an increase of phospholipids and both free and ester cholesterol follows with a delay of several hours.3 In the course of sustained treatment, triglycerides amount to over half of the total plasma lipids, while phospholipid values are higher than those of cholesterol ; the relative amount of free cholesterol is also unusually high.4 This lipid pattern is entirely different from that in the lipemia induced by cholesterol feeding, in which half of the lipid material is present as esterified cholesterol, and the phospholipid : cholesterol ratio is reversed. This reversed ratio has been suggested to be a major cause of the atherogenic effect of cholesterol feeding.’ Both types of lipemia are also different as

Seasonal variations of total lipids, fatty acid composition, of Nizimuddinia zanardini from the seashore of Chabahar

The Iran’s coastal marine algae have great potential in the fields of medicine, food and cosmetics which unfortunately, fewer have been studied. In the present study, Total lipid and fatty acid profile of brown algae, N. zanardini were measured in both cold and warm season. The total lipid content with 41.1±0.8 mg/g dry weight was high in February. In the present study, Fatty acid composition o...

Comparative Analysis of Fatty Acid Composition of Yolk Lipids in Indigenous and Conventional Chicken Eggs

Eggs of the indigenous laying hens are preferred by consumers to those obtained from commercial breeds. The present study aimed to compare the fatty acid (FA) composition of yolk lipids of indigenous eggs (Indigenous; n = 20) and conventional eggs (Conventional; n = 20). Indigenous and conventional eggs were collected from Lori layer hens reared under free-range condition and an commercial farm...

Ontogenetic changes in lipids, fatty acid, and body composition during larval stages of Caspian Kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum)

Body composition and fatty acid profile of the body tissue of Caspian kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum) fish larvae were determined from fertilized egg to 50 days post hatching (dph). Feeding with rotifer started from day 3 to day 7 thereafter they were fed with dry food until the end of the experiment. The changes observed in lipid content and the decrease in lipid levels during larval ontogeny ref...

Seasonal Changes in the Content and Composition of Lipids in Acropora downingi

The lipid content and composition of the reef-building coral Acropora downingi, the largest coral reef of Hengam Island, were examined throughout a year. The results showed that the lipid content of A. downingi significantly differs in different seasons (t-test, P< 0.05). Depending on the season and spawning times, the lipid content of A. downingi ranged from 16.5 to 37.7 % (dry weight). The to...
